The appointees officially mark the beginning of an entirely Youngkin-appointed Board.
The email did not specify when President Ryan would officially step down from his position, although when he announced his resignation he noted that he would step down no later than August 15.
Ryan said that choosing to remain in his position would threaten employees’ jobs, researchers’ funding and students’ financial aid and visa access.
The Board also elected Rachel Sheridan as the next Rector and Porter Wilkinson as next Vice Rector.
Changes to the 2025 plan include the removal of three previously authorized projects and the deferral of 12 also previously approved projects which currently do not have sufficient funding sources.
Before the full Board meets, members of each Committee will convene in separate meetings to discuss business and vote on action items Thursday and Friday.
While Ellis entered the Board with certain priorities in mind, he said that most had not been accomplished during his term, without a majority of Youngkin appointees on the Board.
